She is the only person in Australia to be included in this project and is recognized as one of the top 50 business mentors in the world.
Shelley began her career in 1978 as a Court Reporter where she wanted to learn more about people - and that she certainly got. Quickly deciding that there had to be a more positive way to view the human existence she rapidly moved her career from people development (rather than people imprisonment!) and her life from New Zealand to Australia.
Life from then on exploded into working with a delightful mixture of organizations and people in which she learnt, grew and finally knew that her passion in life was to support people to create significant lives and significant businesses.
After working in a number of high-profile organizations, with cultures that at times dated back to last century, she was becoming frustrated at not being able to absolutely influence senior leaders to have the courage to truly empower their people - rather than just tinker at the edges of the game. (As time has evolved, she can now see how maybe she could have tried to influence in a different way - aaah, the joys of hindsight, learning and experience!)
In fact the tinkering was causing not only Shelley frustration, but she felt the cynicism of the people who worked in the organizations she was a part of, at the push-forward, pull-back behavior of their Leaders as they tinkered with change and then became fearful of leaving their comfort zones. She knew she needed to find an organization (and a Leadership Team) that was absolutely committed to High Performance.
It was in 1992, that with great delight Shelley began working at Colgate-Palmolive on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Being one of the key Leaders in the start-up of the facility Shelley was heavily involved in the design, implementation and leadership of a culture created for sustained high performance.
Shelley founded Performance Outcomes in 2001, to support organizations to apply the elements that activate high performance: personal growth of Leaders, unleashing people's capability, healing conflicted relationships and coaching people to be self-responsible for their outcomes. What results is leadership that brings out the best in people and a sense of it being more than just a job! In 2004 she re-named the business The Centre For Breakthrough Leadership, which more closely represents her service to her clients.
Her ability to serve her clients and help people perform at their best, whether in terms of personal or organizational development comes from the great diversity of projects, organizations, and situations she has dealt with in the past 20 odd years. She has worked with clients around the globe and supports thousands of leaders through her websites, writing, consulting, coaching, workshops and audio programmes.
A resident of the Gold Coast Queensland, Shelley graduated with a Bachelor of Business in Human Resources & Industrial Relations in 1992. You can review testimonials here
